Raise Awareness for Child Abuse Prevention Month in Kane County

Help Raise Awareness for Child Abuse Prevention Month

As we welcome April, we extend an invitation to the community to participate in raising awareness for Child Abuse Prevention Month. There will be a multitude of opportunities for involvement throughout the month, with initiatives for everyone to participate and get involved.

To commemorate Child Abuse Prevention Month in April, we welcome you to join us in advancing the mission of CASA Kane County, advocating for the Voice of Children in Foster Care.

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) Kane County is a Guardian ad Litem, nonprofit volunteer organization that advocates for the best interests of children in abuse and/or neglect cases within the Juvenile Court system. Relied upon by judges and most importantly, the children, CASAs are among the most respected volunteers and advocates in the community.

There are various avenues for participation throughout the month, and here are some suggestions:

Attend CASA Kane County’s Annual H.A.T.C.H. Hands Around the Court House Event on Thursday, April 4th at 12pm.

All members of the community are invited and encouraged to participate. This event is community call to action reminder that everyone is responsible to protect the children in our community. Join at the Historic Kane County courthouse located at 100 S Third Street in Geneva, Illinois.

Featuring Guest Speakers:

Honorable Chief Judge Robert Villa
State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser
Jim Di Ciaula, Executive Director CASA Kane County

Individuals interested in learning more about becoming an advocate are invited to stay for an informational meeting after the event.

Purchase a “Guiding Light” CASA Signature Candle to Support

We are excited to share that the CASA team has created its very own scented candle named Guiding Light for sale in honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month!
CASA candles, along with 4 other popular Inluro scents, can be purchased for $16 at:
https://www.inluro.com/collections/casakanecounty
This is a limited time fundraiser for only 3 weeks from April 1 – April 19 and would make a great Mother’s Day gift!
In addition to shipping, Inluro will host a one-day pickup on Monday, May 6, from 11am – 5 pm, at their store location: 211 W. State Street, Geneva.
Proceeds from this candle fundraiser will directly support providing a CASA/GAL volunteer – a Guiding Light – for a child in foster care so they don’t have to navigate the darkness alone.
Let’s light a spark they can’t put out to Change a Child’s Story!!
