Community Resources

As child advocates, it is sometimes helpful to research resources and service providers that may benefit our CASA children’s needs.  Identifying resources for parents may also facilitate service delivery that indirectly benefits the children.  Appropriate services for parents are an aid in achieving permanency.  CASA/GALs may locate resources that can be suggested to DCFS or Purchase of Service (POS), or contract, agency caseworkers who will make the necessary referrals for services.  Caseworkers often appreciate assistance with this type of preliminary research.
--Kathy Furgason, Case Management Coordinator
