LEGACY

At CASA Kane County we realize that true philanthropy is the act of expressing love for others, and so these major gifts are much more than money contributed to meet the needs of the children served; they are a reflection of your own hopes and dreams for our community.

If leaving a legacy to CASA Kane County is of interest to you, we recommend that you make an appointment to talk with your financial advisor. You may want to restrict your gift for a specific purpose, or allow us to use your gift towards our annual fund. We would be happy to help you reach this very important decision.

Planned giving creates opportunities for both CASA Kane County and our donors. Determining what gift is right for you is just as important as making the gift. There are a host of easy giving options from which to choose…from naming CASA Kane County as a beneficiary in your will to more complex trust arrangements.

Endowments

By investing in the CASA Kane County Grow a Healthy Child Endowment Fund, you provide an essential, continuing gift that will impact the lives of abused and neglected children for years to come.

With the increasing caseload and demands on our organization, and knowing we cannot predict the future, we simply must increase our overall fundraising capacity and financial reserves in order to best serve the needs of our children. CASA Kane County Board of Directors and staff leadership are determined to take critical key steps to best prepare the organization financially to position itself to address the emerging needs.

The Grow a Healthy Child Endowment Fund stays local and will continue to support the needs of children who are most vulnerable in our communities. The principal will remain intact in perpetuity, so that every child who comes into abuse/neglect and probate courts in the Kane County Juvenile Court system is provided a CASA/GAL volunteer. The income earned will be invested back into the organization for the ongoing program needs and operational support.

Grow a Healthy Child Garden

The CASA Kane County Grow a Healthy Child Garden was completed in fall 2012 and is a result of the great partnership with CASA Kane County, Judiciary and community. The beautiful, 4,100 square – foot garden is located at the entrance of the Historic Kane County Courthouse in Geneva was designed to raise funding for CASA Kane County’s Grow a Healthy Child Endowment Fund. The garden provides a beautiful place where people in our community, visitors to the courthouse and families can find beauty, peace and hope for healing.

All future gifts to the garden are allocated to the Grow a Healthy Child Program and Endowment Campaign that will meet emergent needs for CASA Kane County to serve 100% of all abused and neglected children in the Kane County Juvenile Court system.

Naming opportunities still available include:

$150 clay bricks (4″ x 8″)
$1,000 granite pavers (16″ x 16″)
$2,500 waste receptacles
$5,000 mature trees and Longshadow garden planters
$7,500 Barco benches
$10,000 tables with chairs
$25,000 pergola pillars

This garden is a wonderful opportunity to honor or memorialize a loved one, friend or family member. We have also had donors get creative and purchase bricks as holiday or birthday gifts.

If you are interested in purchasing a bench, garden planter, or brick, please contact Vicki Shaw, Director of Advancement 630-444-3100 or vickis@casakanecounty.org.

Legacy Friends

You are like many of our donors, who are dedicated towards the mission of this organization to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children within the Juvenile Court system.

Introduction to Legacy Giving Legacy/Planned Giving

For many of our donors, legacy giving is the perfect way to express support for serving our most vulnerable youth who have been abused and neglected. Legacy gifts help us recruit, retain and supervise community volunteers in serving the best interests of children who come into court by no fault of their own. Advocating for the rights of our youth and ensuring that every child is provided with a caring and dedicated CASA/GAL volunteer is why we exist and what makes our program so unique.

Legacy gifts often provide financial benefits to the donor, too. Tax savings, current cash payments, supplemental support for children and families – these and other benefits are available depending on a donor’s circumstances and objectives.

Why would I create a Legacy Gift?

There are many different reasons for creating a legacy gift. Many people wish to continue their support of CASA Kane County after they are gone and leave a gift in their wills. Child abuse and neglect affect children of every age, race and income level.

If you are interested in learning more about ways to include CASA Kane County in your will, trust, or other planned giving opportunity, please contact Vicki Shaw, Director of Advancement, 630-444-3100 or vickis@casakanecounty.org.

“I could write volumes of how CASA has touched my life and the life of my family.  If these past twenty years have shown me something, it is that ordinary people with loving hearts can make extraordinary difference in the life of a child entrusted in us to help.” ~ Doris Hunt

“We want to help secure the future of CASA Kane County for the children who have no other voice. Providing that through the Legacy Friends program is just what we have been looking for.” ~ Ed Werneke
